Description
The Cumberland Trail State Scenic Trail, part of the Great Eastern Trail system, is a back-country hiking trail that will extend over 300 miles across the Cumberland Plateau, through eleven Tennessee counties, beginning at Cumberland Gap National Historical Park and reaching all the way to Signal Point, near Chattanooga. The Cumberland Trail connects some of the most scenic and historic public lands in the state of Tennessee, including lands managed by the National Parks Service, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Tennessee State Parks, Tennessee Division of Forestry and Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Although the Cumberland Trail is currently under construction, over 185 miles of completed back-country trail are open for public use.
