Wendell, Debbie and daughters, Tiffany and Mikiah Ruppe would like to welcome you to Wendell's Diner. Our bible verses for years have been Proverbs 3:5-6. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.
As a lifelong resident of Tennessee, and Debbie, for the most part, has always lived in Tennessee, we love and appreciate out heritage. I grew up in Oakdale on a large farm learning how to work at a very young age. My parents have always been a great inspiration to me. My dad, Billy Ruppe is a very hard worker who always said to us growing up, "Son, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right." Even in my early years, my desire was to please Dad and the way to do that was following that motto. My Mother, Virginia Ruppe who passed away in April of 2013, was a great motivator simply by her actions. She always instilled good Godly principles in us, excellent work ethic and cleanliness in the kitchen which is something we firmly believe in and have built our business around.
Debbie's parents, Tom and Pat Hurst are lifelong residents of Roane County. Tom was a pip fitter until his retirement and still lives in Harriman. Pat who passed away in March of 2009, was instrumental in teaching Debbie how to be a "clean freak" as we call it. We accuse Debbie of "dusting the nails behind the pictures when she cleans."
