Description
DreamBikes Youth Program is here to address the gap in youth employment rates, particularly amongst minority teens in underserved low-income communities. We address this by providing skill training and employment opportunities through used bicycle repair and sales.
DreamBikes is a nonprofit that believes in turning used bikes into jobs for local youth.
Our Vision: A bike and a job for everyone.
Since 2008, DreamBikes has been able to refurbish and return 10,000 used bikes to the community, providing jobs for over 100 teens while developing lifelong skills. Since the development of both the DreamBikes Educational Scholarship and the DreamBikes Mechanics Scholarship, DreamBikes has awarded 15 educational scholarships and 5 mechanic scholarships, which totals over $20,000 in scholarships awarded.
DreamBikes is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. At DreamBikes, we strategically place used bicycle stores in underserved neighborhoods. Through partnerships with area youth organizations, DreamBikes employs underserved youth, providing them with hands-on, paid job training. The teens are taught how to refurbish bicycles, use the POS software system, and deliver great customer service--all of which will lead to a more successful future.
