Description
Proudly owned and operated by partners Aaron Hale and Gerald Nelson since 2001; Gus's Good Times Deli first opened in the early 80's. The deli takes it's name from the original owner; Gus Captain, who although long since retired still comes in to work and visit old friends during Univerity of Tennessee home games. Gus's has been a fixture on campus for over 30 years! Located at 815 Melrose Place; the deli was rebuilt in the same spot after the original restaurant was destroyed by fire in 1993. The decor is old school UT from the Volunteer Orange tile and paint to the vintage sports memorabilia. The Wall of Fame is full of original (smoke stained and water damaged) autographs from noted athletes and local personalities. Gus's opens early and stays open longer and later than anyone else on campus. The doors don't close until 4:00 am which makes it the perfect place for college students with afterparty munchies, sports fans after late games, anyone stuck at one of the nearby hospitals or anyone just in need of a good meal after midnight! Within walking distance of just about everything; we gladly deliver to dorms, businesses, hospitals, private residences or where ever you need!
