Description
Listed on the National Register of Historic Sites, this old schoolhouse was built two years before Tennessee became a state and is named for the former Tennessee Governor, Sam Houston. There are a number of reading materials from the 19th century located inside this one room log schoolhouse, as well as period benches for students, the teacher's desk, and items used during Houston's time when he taught here. A gift shop and a beautiful native wildflower garden are also on site.
